Welcome to the Ensemble Air Quality Forecast Page

This project, funded by the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA), is a collaborative effort between the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), the Atmospheric Sciences Research Center at the University at Albany (ASRC), and the State University of New York at Stony Brook (SUNY-SB). The title of this project is "Improving Air Quality Forecasting and Management in New York State through Ensemble and High-Resolution Modeling with Diagnostic Analyses." The program leverages upon a number of ongoing research efforts at these instituitions and integrates the pilot-scale air quality forecast system operated by NYSDEC, the air quality forecasting and measurement expertise of the ASRC, and the ensemble weather forecast system developed and operated by SUNY-SB.

Disclaimer:The information presented on this website reflects results from a research study aimed at testing the ability of an ensemble modeling sytem to provide daily characterization of ozone and fine particle concentrations over New York State. The maps do not constitute official NYSDEC air quality forecasts or public health warnings. For NYSDEC's official air quality forecasts for New York State, please visit http://www.dec.ny.gov/cfmx/extapps/aqi/aqi_forecast.cfm. The availability of forecasts may be delayed occassionally due to the experimental nature of this study.
