Mark earned his Bachelor's of Science in Atmospheric Science from the State University of New York at Albany in May 2009. He worked on a system to quantify ocean whitecap coverage. His research included designing an automated method for collecting digital images of the water surface, and developing a program to calculate whitecap coverage using MATLAB. Testing of the system was done on local lakes and rivers in the summer of 2009, and the first ocean deployment is scheduled for 2010. These data will be used to test theories about the effects of whitecap coverage on air-sea gas exchange. He also redesigned the lab web site.
